Carrie Bauer

Director - Hamilton's Academy of Grief & Loss

Carrie grew up in Audubon, Iowa, and attended the University of Northern Iowa, earning a Bachelor Social Work degree. Carrie started as Director of Hamilton’s Academy of Grief & Loss in December, 2012. Prior to joining the staff at Hamilton’s, she worked for six years at two hospices in Iowa as the Social Worker, Volunteer Coordinator, and Bereavement Coordinator.

She has presented on various topics at the local level including at the Iowa Funeral Directors Association Convention as well as nationally at the Association of Death Education & Counseling’s annual conference. She co-facilitates the Central Iowa Death Cafés, and is a co-founder of the Young Bereavement Professionals Group.

In her free time she enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with her family and friends especially her Yorkie Gypsy.
