Hamilton’s Academy of Grief & Loss
The Academy of Grief & Loss is designed to help you grieve in a natural, healthy and personal way.Death and grief are common human experiences, yet these experiences tend to be different for every individual. As a result, Hamilton’s Academy of Grief & Loss offers a wide variety of resources available to you and your family as you begin to work through your grief. Grief-recovery services and grief-related education are available to anyone in the community, children as well as adults.

Hamilton’s grief-related education services include presentations, seminars, and short courses about death and grief issues. Our Lee Hamilton Grief Lending Library is available to the public and houses an extensive collection of books, periodicals, brochures and videos for all ages pertaining to grief and loss issues.

The Academy offers two short-term grief programs especially for children, Little Hands and Healing Hearts, giving children a chance to interact with others their own age who have experienced the death of someone loved. Symposiums are also held and offer practical suggestions for adults who have experienced a death.

Grief-recovery services include the annual Living Tribute Dedication on Arbor Day at the Botanical Center where certain plantings are dedicated in a short, meaningful ceremony to our client families. In conjunction with local hospitals, Hamilton’s offers fetal memorial services for families who have experienced an early gestation loss of a baby. And each time we help a family who has experienced the death of a child, Hamilton’s places a garden ornament to honor that child’s memory in our Children’s Butterfly Garden.

It is our sincerest hope that the information regarding these and other important services available through the Academy of Grief & Loss offer the support needed to work through your grief.
