From: Steve Strand

Phyllis, I was sorry to read about Steve's death. He was our UPS driver in the late 70's as I recall. He was by far the most fun of any of our many drivers over the years. At Christmas time he knew which boxes were candy sent to us by our suppliers and he would open them up in the truck and have a piece before he delivered them to us (Strand's). We loved it. We missed him when he moved on to his new business - Gotta Construction. We never had another driver with his personality. Steve

So sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I remember working with Steve at UPS and how he handled the "big loads" downtown. I always hate to say goodbye to one of the "good 'ol boys. He will be missed by those whose paths he crossed. Our sympathy to you, Phyllis, and your family.

My deepest sympathies to you all. Steve was such an amazing man. We had so many talks, & life lesson discussions. He always welcomed me to your home with a hug & kind word, & he had a larger than life personality. He was a true treasure to all he met, & has made a lasting impact on all who knew him. He leaves a beautiful legacy in all he touched. My love & prayers to all of you!

Phyllis, Clint, Courtney and families our heartfelt sympathy for you all. I felt so sad when my brother Richard called to tell me about the passing of Steve. Phyllis we have not seen each other since your mother's passing, but you will always be a special friend. Our lives I know are very busy, time gets away so fast. Please know I am thinking of you! I always enjoyed coming to your house when we were young and then when you married Steve. He was quite the guy. We are currently out of state for a couple weeks, I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

From: Andy and Vickie Till

Phyllis and Courtney, we hope to meet you one day. We love 'Preacher' and Clint. Our time of work and worship together are treasures we love to share. When 'Preacher' was first diagnosed, I told my Mom about his situation. She already knew about our kindred spirits so she has been faithful to ask about him. You see, my Mom, 91 years young next month, still thinks I need to be taken care of. God has surrounded me and Vickie with such a cloud of hosts as this. When Preacher and I talk it's always "my other brother by another mother ". We in Alabama have shed some tears too. But there's a special peace of knowing 'my bigger younger brother' is now on guard duty as one of my guardian angels. Peace in Jesus name to you all.

Our prayers go with you as you remember, grieve, and adapt. I remember Steve from elementary grades. He was a strong salesman in high school at Langebartels Men's Store. He was positive, energetic, and a Man with a Plan. I feel blessed to know him.

We are so very sorry to hear of Steve's passing. Our hearts ache for you. Prayers are rising that Jesus provides you with strength, courage, and finally peace. May these words of Leo Buscaglia comfort you-I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.

From: Charles Kuhlman

Phyllis, We are so sorry to hear about the death of Steve. Kelcy just sent around the notice. The last time that you and I talked, a month or so ago, it sounded like things were getting serious and you and Steve were very likely facing some pretty bad news. Ann and I have had Steve on our prayer list ever since then. Now we will continue to pray for you and your family. I did not know Steve, other than what I learned from talking to you. But it sounds like he was a great guy and someday you will see him again in heaven. It seems you have a strong faith, so I hope you can find peace with his death and the end of his suffering. You have many friends who hopefully can give you the support and encouragement you need, to get thru this difficult time. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. May God Bless you and your family in this time of loss. Charles and Ann Kuhlman

Steve had a big impact on our lives. He was inspirational, kind, supportive, and fun. I will always remember that he made excellent pies and taught me (Cherie) how to make homemade whipped topping. I have always made it from scratch since then. He will be missed. Our deepest condolences to Phyllis, Clint, and sister-in-law Courtney.
