Gary Bruce Hamilton
October 16, 2011
Gary Hamilton, 68, passed away at home from a heart attack on October 16, 2011. Gary was born in Des Moines on January 5, 1943, to Bruce and Margaret Hamilton. He attended Valley High School and Grandview University.
Gary retired from Bridgestone Firestone in 1996 after 30 years of service. He married Norma on June 11, 1965, and they raised two children. Gary enjoyed collecting and was a member of Midwest Miniature Bottle Collectors. He also enjoyed reading, especially his complete collection of Louis L’Amour western novels. He loved to travel in Colorado; his favorite campground was the Big Blue in the Uncompahgre National Forest. Gary was also a charter member of the Lutheran Church of Hope, beginning with the first development service held in 1991.
Gary was loved and will be deeply missed by his wife Norma Hamilton of West Des Moines; son, Kevin (Melynda) Hamilton of Beullton, CA; daughter, Karin Hamilton of Des Moines; brother, Robert (Kathleen) Hamilton of Mesilla, NM; and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant sister, Ellen Marie.
No public services will be held as Gary wished his services to be private. He has been cremated. Those who wish to honor his memory are encouraged to perform an anonymous act of kindness for someone in need.

Norma,
Did not know Gary well, but, remember him from high school as being a nice guy. I did talk to him about coming to the reunion and he indicated that he wasn't sure if he could.
God Bless your family!!

Norma, I am so very sorry to hear this sad news. It was good to see you at the quilt show after so long, and then such a shock to learn that you lost your husband so soon after.
I pray that you will find peace and comfort in the memories of the years you had together, and hope to see you again soon - perhaps at a quilt guild meeting or event?
Take care and God's peace be with you,
Deb (LSI)
