Marjorie Reeves

Marjorie Reeves passed away on March 31, 2012. Marj was born April 5, 1916 in Victor, Iowa. She received a teaching degree and taught several years in a one room country school house near Victor where she had students from Kindergarten through 8th grade.

She married Charles E. Reeves Jr. in 1937. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage until her husband’s passing in 1998. Marj and Chuck spent virtually their entire life in Des Moines and operated Reeves Printing Company together for over 46 years.

Marj will always be remembered for her sharp mind and her never ending love and affection for her family. She continued to work at her daughter’s scrapbook store in Valley Junction even during her last year of life. Marj was a member of PEO (HF), Build Lincoln Higher Club and Wakonda Club. Throughout her life Marj gave generously and almost always anonymously to charity.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Marj Huber and her son, Chuck (Annie),
4 grandchildren, Rod (Sara) Hagan, Charlie, Jack and Will Reeves and 3 great grandchildren, Greg Hagan, Carson Hagan and Brady Hagan.

To all who knew and loved her, from her kids, grandkids and great grandkids, to her wonderful co-workers and all the customers at Heirlooms by Design, “Grandma”, as she was affectionately known, was loved and will be missed.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home and services celebrating her life will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
