James Fath

James Richard “Dick” Fath, 76, of Des Moines, passed away early Monday morning. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 510 E. First Street in Ankeny, with burial to follow at Union Cemetery in Polk City. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines.

Dick was born June 2, 1935, in Des Moines, son of Christian and Pauline Fath. He attended Dowling High School. He married Dolores Overton on September 4, 1954; they were married 51 years before her passing in 2006.

Dick worked at the Des Moines Register and RR Donnelley.

Dick is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, James (Rie), Gail (Don) Peterson, Dawn (Tom) Underwood, Libby (Tom) Morse, Mary (Paul) Rolland, Kirsten Fath and Melissa Fath (Rod Sullivan); 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, two step-daughters, Shelly (Brian) Thomas and Larissa (Tony) Spaulding; as well as six step-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be given to Mercy Hospice in Johnston in loving memory of Dick Fath.
