Elizabeth Alberta Heldenbrand (House)

Elizabeth A. Heldenbrand, 96, passed away on April 9, 2012, at Fountain West Care Center. Services will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at 12:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Elizabeth was born on June 21, 1915, in Chariton, IA, to Albert and Della (Weaver) Phoenix. She married Elmer James Heldenbrand on New Year’s Eve of 1934. They raised their family in Des Moines. Elizabeth worked as a milliner for Kresge’s and Younkers. After her husband died, she moved to California for 25 years where she was a Bridal Consultant for Buffums’ before retiring and returning to Iowa.

She will be greatly missed by her sons, Jim (Martha) Heldenbrand and Gordon Heldenbrand; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Joyce Porter; and grandson, Brian Heldenbrand.
