Ila Jane Ballard

Ila Jane Ballard, 81, passed away on Wednesday April 11, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center.

Ila was born in Springfield, Minnesota, but moved to Iowa and graduated from Urbandale High School. She was married to Louis Ballard, and together they had three sons, Peter, Lester, and Lucky Ballard. Ila’s passion was bowling. Working at the snack bar in Plaza Lanes she learned her bowling skills and passed them along to her son. Later in life she worked for Hallmark cards, bringing smiles to many.

Ila is survived by her two sons, Lester (Rene’e) and Peter Ballard; fifteen grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Ila is preceded in death by her husband, Louis; her son, Lucky; and her grandson, Ryan.

A visitation to honor her memory will be held Friday April 13, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
