Schuyler J. Herndon

Schuyler J. Herndon, 54, passed away Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Lamoni Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born February 2, 1958, in Des Moines Iowa.

Schuyler attended West Des Moines schools and was a fixture in Valley Junction. He loved listening to jazz and blues. His happiest moments were spent at live concerts, surrounded by friends and enjoying the creative vibe first-hand.

Schuyler is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Erin Herndon and Eric Salmon; niece, Iris Salmon; and cousins, Jana Bragg, Jeff Watson, and Jeryl Watson. He was preceded in death by the women who raised him; beloved mother, Iris Herndon, aunt, Wilhelmin Watson, and by his cousin, Jerrard Lynn Watson.


Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm., Friday, April 20, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Iowa Chapter of the The Alliance for the Mentally ill.

The family would like to thank Dr. Katrina Guest for her unwavering kindness and support and the wonderful staff of Lamoni Nursing and Rehab.
