Thomas E. Shay

Thomas Edward Shay, 83, died Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. A memorial visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2012 at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 West Monroe Street, Mt. Ayr.

Thomas was born December 15, 1928, to John "Clem" and Winifred Shay. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked as a salesman and supervisor for the Metz Baking Company. Thomas never knew a stranger and loved to share stories and jokes with everyone he met.

Thomas will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Helen; daughter, Teresa (Howard) Montgomery; sons, Michael Shay, Jerry Shay; grandchildren, Brandon Montgomery, Patrese Montgomery; sisters, Catherine Mulcahy, Marilyn Shay and twin brother, John Shay. He was preceded in death by his son, Tim Shay and sister, Margaret Kettle.
