Jessie Hernandez

Jessie Hernandez, 90, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Bright Kavanagh House.

Jessie was born March 17, 1922, in Des Moines to Luz (Guzman) and Daniel Valadez. She enjoyed taking care of children and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Jessie also enjoyed quilting.

Jessie is survived by her husband, Ricardo Hernandez; children, Nellie (Jaime) Blanco and Rita (Marcelino) Daniel; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Nellie (Fred) Villalobos; and son-in-law, Gary Gray. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan J. Gray; four brothers; and a sister.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2012, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Susan G. Komen Foundation.
