Millard E. Berkley

Millard E. Berkley, 79, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Millard was born June 18, 1933, in Newton, Iowa, to Roscoe and Margaret (Scott) Berkley. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. During his service in the Korean Conflict, he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, and was exemplary in the skill of sharp shooting. Millard farmed most of his life in the Mingo area and traveled the nation as a truck driver for many years.

He enjoyed reminiscing about his time served in Germany, debating politics and world events, and spending time with his grandkids.

Millard is survived by his children, Theresa (Don) Schweitzer, Kimberly (Ron) Ollerich, Justin (Michelle) Berkley, and Joshua (Amanda) Berkley.

He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
