Richard H. "Dick" Kramer

Richard H. (Dick) Kramer of Ankeny passed into eternity on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Taylor Hospice House, at the age of 83. He was born on September 12, 1928, in Luzerne, IA. Dick is survived by his wife, Mildred (Midge) Kramer of Ankeny, IA, son, Dana (Sandy) Kramer of Minneapolis, MN, daughter, Deb Sposeto of Des Moines, IA, step-son, Scott (Stefanie) Dennis of Ankeny, IA, and step-daughter Colleen (Bill) Armstrong of Ankeny, IA; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ida Kramer of Luzerne, IA; step-son, Howard Dennis of Des Moines, IA; three sisters; and three brothers.

Dick grew up in Luzerne, IA. He graduated from Belle Plaine HS and after graduation moved to Hampton, IA, and started his career as a pressman. He eventually moved to Des Moines and started working for the Des Moines Register and Tribune in September 1957. He married Midge White Dennis from Polk City, IA, on June 29, 1971. Dick retired from The Register after 35 years of service. Dick enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also took many road trips to visit them. Dick had a passion for music and a beautiful voice. He was asked to sing at several family weddings and would entertain the family with song at family reunions and get-togethers.

Dick will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family wishes to thank the staff at Taylor Hospice House for their loving care in his final days.

The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, followed by burial at Polk City Cemetery.
