Paul A. Deneson, Sr.

Paul Andrew Deneson, Sr., or “Kilroy” as he was known to his buddies, passed away at 89 years young on November 18th, 2012.

Paul was born and grew up in Lake Mills, IA. As soon as he was able, he joined the Navy. He was a World War II and Korean War Veteran.

He met and married Bonnie (Hazen) in Des Moines, IA. They settled in Des Moines and later moved to Johnston, IA.

Paul is survived by his loving wife Bonnie; his son Paul A. Deneson, Jr.; his daughter Jean Kohles; his sister Chrisoula Fiers; his five grandchildren, Kelly, Bret, Amy, Kim, and Derek; and four great-grandchildren - all of whom adored him.

He goes to join his sisters, Eugenia Schaeffer, Kathelyn Harrington, Ourania Bowen, Anastasia Short, and Ruth Lee; his brother, Nicholas Deneson; and great-grandson Beckham Deneson.

Paul was known for his hard work ethic, determination, ingenuity, and eliciting groans and smiles for his corny jokes. He proudly worked at Tone’s Spices for over 48 years.
