Donna Docken

Our dear mother, Donna L. Docken, 83, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at Taylor House Hospice, surrounded by her loving family.

Donna was born December 11, 1930 in Montevideo, Minnesota to Arthur and Alma Norem. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always putting everyone’s needs before her own. Donna will be remembered for her quiet gentleness and overwhelming kindness. She loved her cats Harley and Sylvia. Donna was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan who loved gardening and enjoyed family fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Vicki (Gary) Theobald, Larry (Sandy) Docken, Cindy (Amir) Ghalibaf and Karan (Max “Chip”) Sloan; grandchildren, Tricia (Jason), Stephanie (Ben), Christopher, Erin, Marisa, Ashley and Michael; and her great-grandchildren, Madilyn, Joshua and Sloan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roland “Bud”; son, Lonny; great-granddaughter, Ruby; sister, Bette; and her brothers, Arden, Juell and Bob.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a memorial service at 12 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Fleur Drive.
