Sarah Della Smith, 77, of Des Moines passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014.
She retired from the Iowa DNR after 30 years. She enjoyed going to the casinos with her husband, gardening, and doing volunteer work.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Jack Smith; children, Terry Hiatt, Deanna (Randy) Mutchler, Ronnie (Brenda) Hiatt, Michael Detmer; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Silvia Smith; three brothers; and one sister.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 1, also at the funeral home, with burial at Avon Cemetery

I was so sorry to hear of your mothers passing.... As children, we lived very close and used to play together. She was a very sweet lady and I'm sure will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
