Betty Smith

Betty Maxine (Shelton) Smith was born January 23, 1926 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Marian (Titus) Shelton.

She passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Courtyard Estates in Pleasant Hill at the age of 88.

Betty is survived by her sons, Raymond (Diane) Smith and Ronald (Nancy) Smith; grandchildren, Jeri (Ira) Booker, Julie (Troy) Hommer, Jason (Kim) Smith, Laura Smith, Angela Smith, Tod (Tracy) Smith, and Trent (Jen) Smith; 10 great-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jerry Shelton, David Shelton, Jim Shelton, Mary Shelton, and Norma Van Gorp.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Don Smith; brothers: Carl, Don, Bob, Dick and Howard Shelton; sisters, Joy Owens and Iva Shelton; and infant son, Richard William Smith.

All services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3300 Easton Blvd, Des Moines on Saturday, August 16, 2014. Family will begin greeting friends at 9:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

It is suggested that memorial contributions be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
