Service Details

Kim M. Jones (McMiller), 51, was born September 12, 1964 in Gary, Indiana to Patricia Hawkins and Otis McMiller. She passed away at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines on September 5, 2014.

Kim worked for the State of Iowa for 25 years. Kim was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren Jalen 14 (Madison, WI), Amara 9 (Madison, WI), and Sierra 5 (Des Moines, IA). Kim was a loving and supportive mother to her two children Toy L. McMiller (Madison, WI) and Maurice A. McMiller (Des Moines, IA). Kim also was a friend with a heart of giving and compassion to her many beautiful and amazing friends.

Kim was an avid reader and she carried her Nook everywhere. Kim loved to travel especially if it included her grandchildren. Kim was also an angel on this earth and would give her last dollar to someone in need. Kim legacy can be seen in the tools she gave her children and grandchildren which were loving God, perseverance, determination, hard work, and the sky's the limit for any dreams and goals we have.

Kim was called home to be at the foot of Jesus at a young age, but her assignment was completed. She does not want tears for her passing instead she wants laughter and reminiscing on the good times. Kim may be gone in the physical but she is still with everyone she loved and who loved her.

Special thanks to Taylor Hospice House for the care, support and voice of reason at time of stress, Dr. Greg Berry and his staff who personally cared for Kim for years as her doctor and who advocated for her health. The specialist with Unity Point who cared for Kim during her time at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Unity Point at Home team and Case Manager Rachel who went above and beyond. Dr. Nordstrom and his Palliative care and Hospice team who are not afraid to have the hard conversation and also for the beautiful work they do. European Motors who showed compassion and were a blessing at this time.

Hugs and Kisses to all of Kim friends and her children friends near and far who called her, spent time with her, loved her, supported her children and grandchildren, and who provided the word of God and prayer.

Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy. ~Eskimo Proverb
