Lois Elinor Guthridge

Lois Elinor Guthridge, 79, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Deerfield Retirement Community in Urbandale, Iowa.

Born on July 7, 1935 in Hackensack, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Mark and Velma Guthridge. Lois devoted many years to teaching home industrial arts to high school students in Milford, Connecticut. Later in life, she volunteered for many community organizations, with a special interest in adult literacy. Lois loved spending time with her family and friends. She also loved playing bridge, sailing, reading and traveling.

Lois is survived by her son, Dave Vaughn and his wife Carol of Onley, Virginia; son, Bruce Vaughn and his wife Patty O’Brien of Canberra, Australia; daughter, Carolyn Vaughn and her husband Justin Green of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Clara and Melody Vaughn of Onley, Virginia, Aelfred and Lachlan Vaughn of Canberra, Australia, and Cleo and Ludo Green of Des Moines, Iowa; her brother, Ted Guthridge and his wife Sally; sister, Carol Walther; brother, Charles Guthridge and his wife Linda, all of Schodack Landing, New York; and several nieces and nephews.

Lois’ children wish to thank her many friends from Connecticut and Iowa who brought so much joy to her life, and to the caring staff of Deerfield and Mercy Hospice.
