Alice Louise Schukei

Alice Louise Schukei, 88, died Monday, September 22, 2014. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Creighton Valley Cemetery, where Alice’s cremated remains will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Alice was born on November 12, 1925 at their farm home in Creighton Valley to Ernest and Margaret (Nichols) Johns. She was active in 4-H clubs including animals, homemaking and sewing. She attended Melbeta High School for two years and graduated from Gering High School in 1944. After attending Central Business College in Denver, Colorado she was married to Reinhold J. Schukei on June 10, 1945. The couple had two children, and settled in Kimball, NE where Alice owned a credit and collection business. They moved several more times over the years and Alice became a dedicated homemaker. She was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed sewing, painting ceramics, and playing Bridge and dominoes with friends.

She is survived by her children, Ryan Schukei, and Janice (David) Schweitz; grandchildren, Theodore (Laura) Schweitz, John Schweitz, and Charvidawn Schukei; brothers, Walter Johns, Clyde (Joan) Johns, and Glen Johns; and numerous nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and daughter-in-law, Judy Schukei.
