Service Details

Karen Saville was an amazing person. Born on Halloween 1943 to Robert and Mildred Downey. She died on September 23, 2014 at home and at peace. She was passionate about her family; protective, supportive, funny, and kind. Her love was unyielding and unconditional. She was enchanted by children, empowered by her convictions, and unfailing in her love for us all. Through her strength and example, she set a course for us to follow. She found joy in her life because she looked for it, success in her life because she worked for it, respect in her life because she earned it, and love in her life because she gave it every day. We all want her to know, if she was trying to leave us a message...we got it loud and clear!

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Larry Saville; her children, Lisa and Kevin Baker, Dana and Jeff Judge, Tami and Rick Walsh, Todd Saville, and Kristina and Craig Rogers; her sister, Rogene Paskins; brother, Larry Downey; and countless other friends and family whose lives she touched. At the time of her death, she had 10 grandchildren who adored her, and 10 great-grandchildren who sadly will not get the chance to know her the way the first 10 did.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Gifts in her honor can be made to HCI Care Services who helped to make her final days gentle and bearable. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.
