Vivian A. Hastie, 82, was born May 20, 1932, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of John and Pearl Robbins. She went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center.

Vivian was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She adored her family and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vivian enjoyed fishing, shopping, traveling, the Colorado Mountains, and holidays with her family. And she was an awesome cook. Her little road trips to Pella with Jerry, Bob and Shirley, were some of her greatest joys in the past months. Above all, Vivian was a prayer warrior and continually interceded for her family.

Vivian is survived by her children, Rebecca (Dave) Leedy, Michael (Phyllis) Hastie, Matthew Hastie and Laura (Paul) Starkweather; grandchildren, Kathie (Mike) Gonzalez, Megan Hastie, Sarah O’Neal, Stefanie Holcomb and Daniel Starkweather; great-grandchildren, Ethan Gonzalez, Jonathon and Jerric Holcomb, Lillian and Scarlet Starkweather; sister, Shirley Davidson; brother, Jerry Robbins; and numerous other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; infant daughter, Cynthia; grandson, Michael; siblings, Ora Ellis, Goldie Gillum, Ruby Millard, Jack, Dave, Charles, Raymond, Albert, George and Johnny Robbins.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at Bethany New Life Christian Fellowship, 3040 SE 72nd Street, Runnells. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
