Jeanne Ersland

Jeanne (Gibson) Ersland, 91, was born July 13, 1923, to Max and Ella Gibson in Hazel, South Dakota. She passed away on September 28, 2014.

Jeanne was a lifelong resident of Ankeny and graduated from Ankeny High School. She proudly served her country in the Marine Corps during WWII. She was a bookkeeper and office manager until retirement.

Jeanne is survived by her son, William (Lynne) Ersland; daughters, Marcia Garton and Julie Lindsay; stepson, John (Deb) Ersland; 7 grandchildren, Chris (Gretchen) Ersland, Nate (Jen) Ersland, Tim (Jill) Garton, Shannon (John) Moore, RJ Lindsay, Kelly (Jason) Hochstetler, and Alyson Garton; as well as 8 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ankeny Area Historical Society or the Ankeny Alumni Association in loving memory of Jeanne.
