Cole Bailey, 18, was born November 22, 1995 in Des Moines, the son of Daryl and Marci Bailey. He passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2014, in Iowa City.

Cole graduated from Bondurant-Farrar High School where he was on the A-B honor roll all four years. He attended DMACC throughout high school, obtaining college credit, and was currently a student at the University of Iowa.

Cole received 3 academic letters in football, one being academic all-state. He served on unity council for football and was named First Team All-District and District Defensive MVP. Cole was voted by his teammates to be captain in football, wrestling and soccer, earning varsity letters in all three sports. One of Cole’s treasured accomplishments was being voted “best hair” by his class of 2014.

Cole was former treasurer of the Bondurant Go-Getters 4-H Club. He volunteered to be a referee for the youth football program, Meals for the Heartland, and also helped run the little Bluejay wrestling tournament. Cole took part in three Missions trips two of which were with Federated Church of Bondurant to Kokomo, Indiana, and Standing Rock, North Dakota.

In addition to his parents, Cole is survived by his siblings, Brock (Jessica Gray), Payton and Gloria Bailey; his grandparents, Connie Heuer, Roger Bender, Sally and Nathan Hamlin and Clifford Bailey; his aunts and uncles, Tammy and Dan Glade, Donnie and Laura Bailey, Dwayne and Kimberly Bailey, Allyson and Ryan Lusk, Matt and Johnnie Bender, Lisa Heuer, Donnie Heuer and Darin and Joy Heuer; his girlfriend, Lexi Atzen, as well as many other loving relatives and a GAZILLION friends. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Timothy Hartnett and his grandfather, Donald “Pop” Heuer.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2014 at Federated Church of Bondurant, 103 2nd St SW, Bondurant. The family will receive visitors Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church. Cremation will follow the funeral and a special memorial will be placed at Santiago Cemetery in loving memory of Cole.
