Amanda Jane (Mandy) Krantz of Urbandale, beloved wife of Paul, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. Her passing, the result of a pulmonary embolism, was sudden and unexpected.
Mandy was born to Rose and Armand Gallo of Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1954. In addition to her husband Paul and sons Jeff and Glenn, Mandy is survived by two brothers, Alex Gallo, of Eugene, Ore., an Matt Gallo and his wife, Linda, of Newport, Ore., a sister, Lory Gallo and her partner, Mary Garsia, of Brooklyn, N.Y., a sister-in-law, Laurie Brown of Seattle, Wash., and two nephews, Alex and Noah Gallo-Brown. She was predeceased by Armand and Rose and brother Nick Gallo.
A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Mandy also attended Des Moines Area Community College, where she earned a registered nurse license. She worked at Principal Financial (then Bankers Life) until leaving the workforce to care for her sons. Most recently, she was a cashier at Hy-Vee grocery store in Johnston.
Mandy was a long-time member of Plymouth Congregational Church in Des Moines and felt blessed to sing each Sunday with the church’s Chancel Choir. The rest of the week, she was a devoted ‘Nana’ to her granddaughter, Ayla.
There will be a visitation for Mandy at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St., Des Moines, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 6. Services will be held at Plymouth, 4200 Ingersoll Avenue, on Monday, October 7 at 11 a.m.

So sorry for your loss, Paul, Jeff and Glenn. I sat next to Mandy almost every Thursday and Sunday in Plymouth Chancel Choir. Missing her already. We used to chit chat as we lined up to process on Sunday mornings. My thoughts and prayers for all of you. I know how much she loved little Ayla, also.
