Nancy Clarice McCarney, age 69, died suddenly Friday, October 24, 2014.
Nancy was born July 16, 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin and Clarice McCarney. She graduated from East High School in 1963 and began working at Northwestern Bell in October of 1963. She retired in March of 1990 as the Supervisor of Central Offices. After retirement, Nancy went on to produce a radio talk show for WHO Radio and lived out her passion for helping others by serving as a life coach. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends. Nancy liked reading, music, and writing beautiful letters that were cherished by many.
Nancy is survived by her sister, Mary McCarney of West Des Moines, her brother’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dan McCarney.
Services will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Friends may begin calling at 1:00 pm with memorial service to start at 2:00 pm. Burial of cremated remains will follow the memorial service at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

So sorry that my sister Christine has lost her long time dearest friend. I know she will be terribly missed, and now fond memories will take her place. My condolences to all who knew and loved her.

Jeff and I will always cherish the time Nancy and my sister Chris spent at our home in St. Louis just a few years ago. It was a magical time for all of us. Thank you Nancy for sharing your generous spirit and soul with us. We will miss you forever.

My prayers are with the family. I worked for Nancy at Bell. She made the job fun. I will be forever greatful for her putting me on her night crew and going well beyond to keep me on her day crew permanently. She was a terrific lady. Many good times at Perkins!
