Service Details

Charles “Frank” Bickel, 97, passed on to his Savior Sunday, October 26, 2014 with his family by his side.

Frank was born May 1, 1917 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Ethel (DuBree) Bickel. He was a lifelong resident of Des Moines, Iowa and proudly served his country overseas repairing bombers in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. Frank worked for the U.S. Post Office until his retirement in 1972 and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. His retirement allowed him more time to travel the U.S. with his precious wife and devote more time to his sons and grandchildren. He loved to garden and encourage growth in all his relationships. We have never had a day on this earth without him and his passing only makes heaven more precious to those who remain.

Frank is survived by his son, Tom Bickel (Kay) of Des Moines, son, Charles Bickel of Des Moines, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beautiful wife of 63 years, Thelma Mae (Lankford) Bickel, and his sister, AiLeen Quinn.
