James S. Waters

James Stephen Waters, Sr. was born February 4, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa to Stephen and Alice Thompson Waters. He was a lifelong resident of Des Moines and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was an extremely hard worker his whole life, working seven days a week as a truck driver for various companies to provide for his family. He was a member of the Teamsters and enjoyed boating and hunting. He loved spending time with his family and many friends, and especially his grandbabies.

James died Monday, October 27, 2014 at his home with his family by his side at the age of 70.

There will be a memorial service celebrating James’s life at 2:00 pm Friday, October 31, 2014 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines with visitation for an hour prior to the service. Private family burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

James is lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn; his children, Christine K. Waters, James S. Waters, Jr., and Julie L Lawler (Lonnie); his grandchildren, Miranda Lawler and Brittney Lawler-Blok (Zach); his great-granddaughters, Kyrie and Rileigh; and a host of other family and friends.
