Mark William Bassett

Mark William Bassett passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2014. He was born on May 29, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Harold and Shirley Bassett.
Mark was retired from Firestone. He later worked as a mail carrier in Ankeny and was most recently, a Production Manager at Helena Chemical.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors and was a member of Pheasants Forever. He loved to travel in order to pursue these hobbies. He was a great storyteller and fun loving guy who cherished his family and friends, and was always the life of the party.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Ginger; his sons, Mark Jr in (Seattle), and Justin: siblings; Sheryl Hurd, John (Sandy), and Brian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Harold Bassett, and grandparents, William and Berdie Walls.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014, at Ankeny Lakeside Center in Hawkeye Park, 400 Lakeshore Drive in Ankeny.
Memorials may be directed to the Iowa DNR or to the Family

Mark will be missed! He was a man with a great heart, great laugh and a wonderful sense of humor. It has been a joy to get to know him. I would almost fall off our motorcycle again just to hear him laugh! He will be dearly missed and remembered for a very long time. Love and hugs from Ron and Ann.
