Glenn Forrest Blackman, 81, died Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Lutheran Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Glenn was born April 9, 1933 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ray and Genevieve (Wright) Blackman. He was married to his wife Willadene on August 14, 1955 and to this marriage six children were born. Glenn worked for forty-five years as a truck driver, retiring from Kile Transfer in 1995. He was a member and deacon of the Living Church of God. Glenn enjoyed gardening and fishing; he took the time to teach the love of fishing to his family and grandkids.
Glenn is survived by his children, Debbie (Alan) Crabtree, Donna Lemley, Deana (Gary) Garrett, Dixie (Ray) Olsen, Randy Blackman, and Bobbi (Rich) Barnholdt; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Blackman; sister, Helene Hutt; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willadene Blackman, son-in-law, Russell Lemley; brother, Gene; sister, Rae Mary Knudsen; brother-in-law, John Hutt; and sister-in-law, Oletta Blackman.
**Due to the road construction on SW 9th Street, the entrance to the funeral home is off of Fleur or SW 14th Street to Kenyon heading east.
