Helen M. Harris

Helen M. Harris, 93, was born January 6, 1921, to Leo and Helen Rogerson in Keokuk, Iowa. She passed away at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, Iowa on November 23, 2014.

Helen was a member of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church for over 60 years. She was also a member of the Bishop Drumm Guild. Helen enjoyed playing Bridge, reading, knitting, and watching baseball.

Helen is survived by her children, Judy Lee, Diane (Robert) Dillinger, Marsha (Tom) Rodd, Rev. Robert E. Harris, Jr. (Pastor of All Saints Catholic Church in Des Moines), Laurie Harris, and Michael (Diana) Harris; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Janice (John) Benes; and a host of other family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Harris, Sr.; two infant grandchildren; and sister, Patricia Schmakel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 28, 2014, at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue in Des Moines, with visitation hours between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. A private family burial will be held at Glendale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Drumm in loving memory of Helen.
