Dale A. Johnson, Sr., 74, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014. He was born December 15, 1939 to Theodore and Harriett Johnson in Des Moines, Iowa.
Dale proudly served his country in the Iowa Air National Guard. He enjoyed working as a salesman for KRNT in Radio Sales. Dale loved to travel, golf and spend time with his family.
He is survived by his sons, Dale A. (Dawn) Johnson, Jr. and Jeffrey (Tammy) Johnson; daughter, Rose (Charlie) Burns; granddaughters, Jennifer, Mallory, Jen and Dana; great-grandson, Jackson; brother, Johnny Geigley; sisters, Pat Griffin and Barb Morrey; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gerald Jr. and Susie Lair; companion, Dorothy Woods; and several nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Elizabeth Johnson.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to National Blood Foundation in loving memory of Dale.

I was so sorry to hear about Dale's passing. I enjoyed working with him at the Des Moines Radio Group. He was ALWAYS such a happy, positive, nice guy at work. Every Valentine's Day he would bring the office staff chocolate strawberries and he would make sure I received some in the marketing office as well. You're all in my thoughts and prayers.

I will miss you Big Dale. I'm so thankful to have been your daughter-in-law for 34 years. The wonderful memories I have I will cherish and pass on to your great grandson Jackson and Baby Ranniger that will arrive in May. Love you to the moon and back!
