Carol A. Skoog, 78, was born June 4, 1936, to Andrew and Mae Paul in Newton, Iowa. She passed away at Valley View Village on Wednesday, January 21, 2015.

Carol grew up in Kellogg, Iowa, and lived in Altoona until moving to Valley View Village four years ago. She was a librarian for Altoona Public Library and retired as a teller from Altoona State Bank in 1986. Carol was a member of Altoona United Methodist Church and was a founding member of PEO Chapter MC. She loved to crochet and play bridge. Her greatest passion was her family and was always involved in her daughters’ activities.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Bill; daughters, Pam (Dan) Cole and Barb (Rich) Ramos; granddaughter, Marissa Ramos; six brothers, Norman (Vivian) Paul, Dale Paul, Dennis (Sharon) Paul, James (Margaret) Paul, Curtis (Rosalee) Paul and Keith (Dorothy) Paul; as well as her sister, Helen (Earnest) Hoffa. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Doris (Ernest) Thorson and Phyllis Paul; and two brothers, Wayne (Phyllis) Paul and Eugene Paul.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Altoona United Methodist Church, 602 5th Avenue SW in Altoona, with burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the church. A service of remembrance will be held at Valley View Village at a later date.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Valley View Village for their excellent care and compassion in assisted living and memory care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family which will be given to Valley View Village at a later time in Carol’s memory.
