Wilfred A. Storey

Wilfred Storey, 83, was born July 2, 1931, in Woodward, Iowa. He passed away at his home in Woodward on January 27, 2015, surrounded by his loved ones.

Wilfred served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. He began his career at Solar Aircraft and retired from John Deere after 30 years of dedicated service. In his retirement, he was a truck driver for Barr-Nunn Transportation.

Wilfred enjoyed farming, being outdoors and mowing the yard. He also loved wintering in Mississippi with his wife for numerous years. Above all else, he enjoyed having morning coffee with the boys, visiting family, and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Wilfred is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gloria; children, Norma Smith, Michael (Melodee) Storey, and John (Betty) Storey; grandchildren, Alisha (Cody) Porter, Ashley (Michael) Moffett, Melissa (Nick) Joyce, Megan (Josh) Storey, April (Chris) Robb, Aaron Storey, Johnny (Heather) Storey, Travis Storey, and Lucas Storey; 18 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Raymond (Bee) Storey and Leslie (Wilma) Storey; and his beloved dog, Gizmo. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sophia; his brother, Lester Storey; and son-in-law, Craig Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2015, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m.
