Stanley C. West

Stanley West, 84, passed away February 22, 2015, at his home in Des Moines, Iowa. His body has been donated to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program.

Stan was born on November 30, 1930, to Carl and Ann West in Creston, Iowa. He graduated from Creston High School, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and retired from Firestone in 1985 after 35 years of service as a giant tire builder.

Stan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara; children, Diane (Larry) Sours, Karen (Jim) Biegger, Stan West II, Nicki (Kurt White) West, and JoAnn (David) Field; grandchildren, Carl West, Jennifer Field, Private Bryan Field, Aryanna Field, Matthew Biegger, Mindi McDonald (Dave), great grandchildren, Jacob Biegger, Abigail Biegger, Delaney Sample, Lucas Sample, Joe McDonald, Aryanna Field, as well as other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with visitation following until 4:00 p.m.
