Howard “Poppy” W. Renaud, 88, passed away Tuesday February 24, 2015, at his home in Bondurant. He was born June 4, 1926 to Harry and Berniece (Light) Renaud in Bondurant.

Howard graduated from Bondurant High School in 1944 and then served in the United States Army during WWII in the South Pacific. In 1948, he married Sally Thiel and worked on the family farm. Once his family began to grow, he was a truck driver for Briggs Transportation where he retired from after many years of service.

Howard enjoyed raising exotic fowl including pheasants and peacocks. His grandson, Josh, is carrying on this tradition. Howard also enjoyed reading, cracking walnuts, visiting with friends, and working.

Howard was a member of the Bondurant American Legion Post 396. He felt privileged to have been on the Casey’s Honor Flight to Washington D.C. and was proud to be a part of America’s Greatest Generation. Howard was a lifetime Mason and a member of the Za Ga Zig Shrine. He was also a lifetime member of Bondurant Christian Church.

His greatest passion was always his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Howard is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sally; children, Sally (Jerry) Friedmeyer and Kevin (Zanetta) Renaud; grandchildren Jeri Lynn Butler, Josh (London) Friedmeyer, Andy Friedmeyer, Jakob Friedmeyer, Melissa (Trevor) Perry, Dustin Renaud, Brandon Renaud, Jason Renaud, and Amanda Renaud; great-grandchildren, Hope, Brooke, Kaylie, Justice, Brindlee, Haylee, Kaiden, Dominic, Caylee, Colton, Madison, and Cody; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Lynne Annette Renaud and Howard Michael Renaud; sister, Virginia Torgersen; and brother, Dale (Pat) Renaud.

Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Bondurant Christian Church, 304 Grant Street South in Bondurant. A private burial of cremains will occur at a later date at the Bondurant Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Bondurant Christian Church or Bondurant American Legion Post 396 in loving memory of Howard.
