When I was very young, I liked to sit on Uncle Jim's lap and have him to draw pictures. He could draw anything, then he would teach me how to draw it just like him. I draw those same simple pictures with my granddaughters. He turned 20 three days after I was born, so we celebrated our birthdays together for many years. He tried to teach me how to bowl. As independent as he had always been, it was good to see he how happy he was where he lived his last few years. Many thanks to the staff at Calvin Community.

Though he had no kids of his own, he was there at all the significant events in my life and the lives of so many of his nieces and nephews; weddings, baptisms, vacations, graduations and, of course, Sunday dinner:) Anytime there was work to do, he'd pull up in his Pontiac with all the right tools and plenty of advice. Like all the Madisons, he was a talker and story teller. I'll miss him, the good and the bad, and will always remember him as the guy who showed up and worked hard until the job was done. Well done, Uncle Jim!

I was on a bowling team with Jim for many years, and knew him from high school. He was the "gentle" in gentleman. Never knew him to have cross words with anyone. A great guy who will be missed.
