Linda Henderson
March 02, 2015
It’s hard to say goodbye to our Linda. Her time with us wasn’t enough. And while she now lives in Heaven, she remains a vibrant, loving, generous spirit that will live forever in our hearts. Words can never adequately describe the impact Linda had on her family and friends. Her generosity, graciousness, kindness and good humor were always forefront. Linda fought the good fight against cancer and never complained. She lived each day to the fullest with a zeal and passion that should remind each of us to do the same.
Linda was the best mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She made each of these her priority and we will all remember the love she freely gave and the kindness she always extended. She is survived by her father and stepmother, Jim and Delores Dice; her beloved children, Gary (Angella) Uhl, Courtney Uhl, and Jon Henderson; granddaughter, Brynna Uhl; her brother, Bob Dice; sisters, Cheri Dice Emzen and Kathy Leto; and her lifelong friend, Anita Bride; as well as many loving relatives. She was preceded in death by her mother, Leta Porter. Linda is also survived by a huge family of friends who loved and cherished her. Linda was a member of “The Skip’s Family” for more than twenty years; they were her friends, her cheerleaders, and her dancing partners. Linda was loved and supported by many throughout her illness, for which she was extremely grateful.
Linda’s interests were many. She was active in the Republican Party and supported many candidates with her time and energy. Her most memorable and enjoyable times were spent on Lake Okoboji with family and friends. She also loved family dinners and entertaining for holiday celebrations. Linda had fun, she loved, she engaged, she laughed and she never gave up. We are sad to say goodbye to such a wonderful woman and will miss and remember her always; smiling at her, and how she made us feel – wonderful!
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA. A celebration of life “Linda Style” will be held at a later date.
Condolences may be made to the American Cancer Fund in memory of Linda Henderson.

I was shocked to learn of Linda's passing. I didn't know her except from Skip's but she was the nicest lady. We really enjoyed her when we were there. Prayers to all her family and friends.

To the family of Linda: We learned today of the loss of your loved one and our friend -- Linda. What an amazing and adorable person she was! We spent so many Saturdays with her at Skip's. I'm not sure if it was the food or the way she made us feel that we kept going back! She was an inspiration to all! Her smile washed away all of our troubles. She was sincere and kind. She was proud of her kids. Her smile was as big as her heart! We'll miss her! Our deepest sympathy. (Courtney: You are such a wonderful reflection of your mother.)

Our deepest sympathy to Gary, Courtney, Jon and all Linda's family. We just returned from a trip and learned of Linda's passing. We were fortunate to have known and cared for the family as a physician and friend. She was very kind and non judgmental to all she met, the first to offer assistance to anyone in need and always putting everyone elses needs before hers. What an inspiration she was to the world and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Rest in peace beautiful child of God.

JON, Courtney, Gary, I'm so sorry that your mother and best friend had to leave. She was a beautiful woman, inside & out. She has always, and always will, have a special place in my heart as your mother, as the mother of our son and the parts of my life that we shared. We will all miss her deeply. She will always be with you in your hearts wherever you go whatever you do. May GOD bless her and her children.

Linda was my best friend in 7th and 8th grade at Visitation. I learned so much about make up from her! Not being silly, that was important at the time! I always thought her mom was so glamorous. Linda was a great friend, and we had many, many sleepovers, always talking about boys! Saw her this summer at John Hollingsworth's birthday party, and she was so upbeat. So sorry she has left us.

I got to know Linda at Skips. What I will remember is her generous spirit and caring way. She was always concerned about me and my family even when she was fighting her own battle. I will miss her and her sweet smile.

I will always remember the last time I saw Linda. It was at a mutual friend's surprise
birthday party and we shared a dance. Linda's eyes, even after all of her recent issues, had that familiar sparkle. She could just look at you and make you happy. Pleasing people was her great pleasure. I am blessed to have had such a friend. Rest in peace sweet lady.

My deepest condolences to Gary, Courtney, Jon, Kathy, Bobby, Cheri, Jim and all of Linda's family and friends.
She was also an amazing cousin!
I absolutely idolized her growing up, and admired her very much as an adult. She was truly beautiful inside and out. Can I just say that one of the things I always loved most about Linda was her VOICE? From a very young age, I loved to hear her talk and laugh! Especially when she would say, "Ohhhh GOD, Vic!" when I'd say something silly just to hear that laugh. I'll never forget her, and miss her always. ??
