Anita Fitch
March 19, 2015
Anita Ramona Fitch died at Urbandale Healthcare Center in Urbandale, Iowa on March 19, 2015. She was 95.
Born November 24, 1919 to Roy and Rhoda Denison she attended Stephens Girls School, Kansas State University, and Marymount College. Perhaps what she was most proud of, however, was her choice to enlist in the Navy in 1942. She was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii at Naval Hospital 128 at the time the atom bomb was dropped on Japan. She completed her naval career in 1946.
Anita was an avid swimmer, an expert at crossword puzzles, and a voracious reader. What she will be more remembered for is her generous nature, her loving spirit, and her devotion to her family.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Rhoda Denison and her brother and sister Charles and Lois. Also preceding her in death was her beloved husband, John William. She is survived by her daughter Cynde Urness (Tom Kuehl), and her two sons John R. (Deb) and Charles “Chuck” (Christie) along with 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held for Anita on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa.

Anita was an incredible friend to me and such a wonderful influence on my sons. We often remember our fun times at the Meadowlark pool and trips to McDonalds. God blessed us with Anita and she is missed.

Anita you were the most interesting person to talk with. You always made me laugh and fun at the bingo table. My mother was Helen at Legacy. I'm the older daughter from CA. You are an unforgettable woman. You will be missed.

I have thought of you many times and the friendship you had with my mother. My husband just asked if that lady that liked KU was still at Legacy. You will be remembered and missed. You knew me as Helen's daughter.

Cindy, Johnny and Chuck,
As I was reading my KC Star this morning I saw the wonderful picture of your Mother and that great smile of hers-I can hear her laugh. I am so sorry you will hear that no more. My condolences to all of you.
