Wayne Essink, 69, passed away on March 19, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born October 23, 1945, in Panama, Nebraska, to Edward and Mary Essink.
Wayne went to school at Lincoln Southeast in Lincoln, Nebraska and served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1970. Wayne lived in Nebraska until 1980 when he moved to Des Moines, Iowa to continue his sales career. Wayne owned and operated Energy Doctor, Inc from 1990 until he retired in 2014. He loved the Nebraska Cornhuskers, golfing with friends, traveling to his home in Yuma, Arizona in the winter and to see his wife's family in Canada during the summer. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. But most of all, he truly loved being "Grandpa Wayne". He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Rodney Essink, Tammara Essink, Tricia Harrison, Troy (Angela) Essink, Kim (Joe) Wright, Jeff (Nikki) Essink, and Andrea (Donnie) Duntley; step-children, Rob (Laura) Springer and Shelley Grenier; 15 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Roger (Nancy) Essink, Gene (Sharon) Essink, Larry (Linda) Essink, Ken (Marge) Essink, Roxie (Mark) Lehl, and Karla (Bob) Lohse; as well as sister-in-law, Carole Essink. He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Nancy; his parents, and brother, Jim Essink.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Oralabor Cemetery in Ankeny. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

I am so sorry! Shock and disbelief are so heavy in our hearts. I will miss all of the wonderful laughter he brought to our lives! We had some deep conversations. He was very lucky to find you Linda! Prayers to all who are missing him!
