Gilbert Proudfit

Gilbert Proudfit, 87, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 at HCI Care Services Bright Kavanagh House.

Gilbert was born June 12, 1927 in Des Moines to Harold A. and Arvilla Proudfit.
He was a 50 year member of North Gate Chapter #417 OES, 50 year member of Moingona Masonic Lodge #633, Scottish Rite-32nd Degree Mason, 50 year member of Park Ave. Presbyterian Church, graduated from North High School in June 1945 and attended Drake University in 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy in both WWII and the Korean War. He made his career as a paper salesman.

Gilbert is survived by his children, Dave (Deloris Baker) Proudfit and Debbie (Jerry) Burns; granddaughter, Laura Burns; and other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Darlene Proudfit; his parents and siblings, Dwight Proudfit and Marguerite Binder.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2015 followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Gilbert will be laid to rest at Brethren Cemetery in Dallas Center, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to HCI Care Services, Bright Kavanagh House.
