Joyce "Fern" Grim

Joyce “Fern” Grim was born April 24, 1924 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Elmer and Grace (Thorne) House. She passed away after a short illness, Saturday, March 28, 2015, at the age of 90.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 3, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Interment will occur at Chapel Hill Cemetery following the funeral.

She is survived by her children, Beverly Williams and Gerry (Connie) Grim, Sr. and grandchildren, Wendy Crandall, Keith Crandall, Leslie Grim, Shelley Reimers, Gerry Grim, Jr., Dustin Grim, Kelly Cooper, Amy Karaidos and Corey Grim. Fern is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Noah, Joseph, Michelle, Zachery, Lacey, Brock, Samantha, Cameron, Kate Lynn, Derek, Brianna, Taylor, Matthew, Alisha, Tara and Jessica; great-great-grandchildren, Lillian, Christopher, Xavia, Mylee, Laylah, Gabriella, Anahi, Natalia, Ernesto, Ezra and Gavin; and her brother, Don “Johnny” House.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents; son, George “Bud” Grim, Jr.; siblings, Betty Sue Smith, William House, Lovia Shaffer, Judy Ryan and Hoyt House; and her great-grandson, Dustin Grim, Jr.
