Jean M. Pilmer
April 22, 2015
A truly lovely lady, Jean M. Pilmer passed away at her home in Clive early Wednesday morning, April 22, 2015. As was her wish, the family will gather at the graveside at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 27, at Norwalk Cemetery in Norwalk, IA.
Jean was born November 3, 1923 in Des Moines to Fred and Agnes (Andersen) Garrison. She was involved in many extracurricular activities at Lincoln High School before going on to study at Drake University.
Jean loved her many friends, music, books, pretty clothes and sparkly jewelry, Revlon Lipstick #740, a good hair “do,” shopping and back-seat driving. She was an accomplished cook and award-winning baker. Jean followed the news and was concerned about what she considered incivility and “just plain bad manners” in the public arena.
Most of all, Jean loved the family she and her husband, Dale Pilmer, Sr., created, all of whom survive her. They include son, Dale Pilmer, Jr., of Norwalk; and three daughters, Andrea Pilmer, Nancy Pilmer-Borghi and Sharon Pilmer, all of West Des Moines; grandchildren, Daniel (Jessica Hill) Hannan and Matthew Borghi; and great-grandchildren, Matthew Risinger, Zoey Hannan and Aidan Hannan.
Her sister, Mary Nemeth of Dallas, TX; her niece, Patricia Brady of Dallas, TX; many dear friends; and her beloved granddog, Nikki also survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale Pilmer, Sr.; and sisters, Ruth and Shirley.
Jean was so happy to return to her home at Silvercrest after a recent hospitalization. She appreciated the excellent, loving care she received from the entire staff. Her family, too, is deeply grateful for the Silvercrest staff’s ability to make this a home for their sweet mother.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 600 Sixth Ave., Des Moines, IA, 50309 or the Senior Dreams Foundation at Silvercrest, 12605 Woodland Parkway, Clive, IA, 50325. Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

Nancy,
I am so sorry for your loss. Because my parents also resided at Silvercrest, I saw your Mother often. She always had a smile on her face and would say Hello. I usually would see her in the main gathering area - always impeccably dressed!
God bless you and your family.
