Leola Mary Sonderleiter, 92, died Friday, April 24, 2015.
Leola was born August 4, 1922 in Gomer, Ohio to Ellis and Catherine (Price) Watkins.
She was a member of Bloomfield United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Leola is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bud; children, Gary (Rose), Michael, and Mary; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lena Davis.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dennis and her siblings, Paul Watkins, Katherine King, and Perry Watkins.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, at Bloomfield United Methodist Church, 5930 Indianola Road, Des Moines.

My father, Floyd Russell, and I are sorry to hear of your loss. We did not know that Leola passed away. I knew her all of my life. If any of you remember Leona Melson (Nonnie), that was my great grandmother who lived just down the street from the old business that Bud and Leola owned. Leola was a great person to know and could always make a person smile. She was a very nice person with a caring heart. We are thinking of you in your time of loss. Please let Bud know that we are thinking of him too.
