Service Details
Larry Lee Hawkins, 81, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2015, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with a reception visitation immediately following. Private burial will be held at Russell Cemetery.
Larry was born October 9, 1933, to Dorothy and Harold Hawkins. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 35 years. Larry enjoyed bowling, playing pool, playing cribbage, and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Larry is survived by his son, Jeff (Tammy) Hawkins of Altoona; his brothers: Bob Hawkins of Cedar Rapids, Steve Hawkins of Des Moines, Mark Hawkins of Ocala, FL, and Gerald Hawkins of North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded by his parents; his daughter, Cindy (Hawkins) McBee; and his brothers: Dean, Roger, and Donald Hawkins.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospice in loving memory of Larry.

When i think of Larry the thing that comes to mind most is that laugh he always had a smile on his face and always liked to give you a hard time about something. He was a good man that will be missed rip Larry

I'm so sorry Jeff your dad was so much fun. I remember seeing him at our neighborhood dahl's store an out back in the day when the big group went out for St patty's day. So sorry
