Rickey Robbins
May 18, 2015
Rickey Robbins, Sr., 68, was born August 19, 1946 and he passed away Monday, May 18, 2015 at Mercy Hospital with his family by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Marilla; sons, Rickey Robbins, Jr. and Darren (Angela) Robbins; daughter, Laura Robbins; step-children, Joe Sullivan, Kimberly Leonetti, Ruston Sullivan, and Darin Sullivan; twenty grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Jimmy Robbins, Connie Battles, Sue Robbins, Jean Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Grace Robbins and his brothers, Kenneth and Larry Robbins.
Rick was one of a kind. He loved to visit and tell stories and was a familiar face many places he went. He liked to spend hours strolling the aisles shopping, and loved the saying, “If I’m not home, check HyVee.” He was a NASCAR and Cowboys fan and Rick (a.k.a. Popo) loved taking the grandkids to McDonalds. Rick enjoyed going to car auctions with his brother and you always knew where to find him the ten days of the Iowa State Fair.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2015 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23rd at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Rick.

My prayers go out to Rickey, Marilla, Jean, Jimmy, and the rest of Rick ' s family. There was never a time that I can remember not smiling or laughing being around Rick. I will always remember the heart of gold he had within and without a doubt how he lifted all spirits. May you RIP uncle Rick!
