Denis John Sellen, 80, was born July 18, 1934 in Roselle, Iowa to Leo and Julia (McLaughlin) Sellen. He died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Memorial service will begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

Denis is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Meagan (Bob) Evans; son, Jeremy Sellen; sister, Verna Smith; and grandchildren, Malikye, Teagan, and Chloe Evans. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael; brothers, Michael and Victor; and sister, Eileen Skelly.

Denis served in the U.S. Army for four years. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and his Master’s degree from the University of Missouri. He enjoyed photography and gardening.
