N. Ruth Bough

Ruth Bough, 86, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at University Park Nursing Facility. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Gospel Assembly Church in Urbandale. Burial will follow services at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening at the church from 6 to 8 p.m.
Ruth was born in Rossville, Illinois, on August 15, 1928 to Ellis G. Hurt and Ada Ellen Peercy. Her early years were always involved with church. Ruth started singing at the age of 4 and was playing piano by age 9. She received the Holy Spirit in September 1944.
Ruth was united in marriage to Lester Bough in October 1945, three weeks after their first face-to-face meeting. In 1955, the couple moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where they made their home. They attended Gospel Assembly Church under Bro. Lloyd Goodwin’s ministry. Her musical abilities were greatly used through the years and she never failed to lift up her voice singing praises to the God she loved.
Ruth is survived by 3 daughters, Cindy Jepson, Ankeny, Iowa; Debbie (Gary) Wolfrum, Grass Lake, Michigan and Rhonda (Don E.) Abshire, Urbandale, Iowa; as well as six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester, and two sons, Kenny and Lester Earl Bough.

I'm sorry for the loss of Ruth. She was a strong person everyone looked up to. She gave and gave and gave. She is where she wanted to be. She is in a better place.

Precious in the sight of The Lord is the death of one of His saints!! Sis. Ruth kept the faith and never wavered . She was an inspiration to me.

My wife and I were honored to be friends with Sis. Ruth. She was a precious woman of God and used her talents to glorify God and bless His people. We grieve, but not as those who have no hope. Looking forward to seeing her again.

I feel very fortunate to have known Sis. Ruth since 1976. She was always a blessing and inspiration to me and many of my relatives and friends.She always had encouraging words to say and always lifted your spirit with her awesome piano playing and singing talent. No one could deny that Sis. Ruth had a true and genuine walk with Christ Jesus!
