Carol J. Upah was born December 17, 1932 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Alvin and Stella (Vanourney) Melsha. She passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the age of 82.

Services will be held at Blairstown Presbyterian Church, 109 Prospect Street NE, Blairstown, IA 52209. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2015. Carol will be laid to rest beside her husband, Bernard at National Cemetery in Vining, Iowa.

Carol was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. She was a member of Blairstown Presbyterian Church in Blairstown, Iowa. After moving to Des Moines, she attended New Hope Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time at her senior center where she met some wonderful friends. She would go almost daily and loved playing Dominoes. She was very talented at crocheting and invested many hours making name doilies for family and friends.

She is survived by her son Kevin Upah and his wife Mona of Des Moines, son David Upah and his wife Kannie of Belle Plaine, and son Randy Upah and his wife Kimmie of Belle Plaine. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and four step great grandchildren.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years Bernard Upah, and her brother Marvin Melsha.
