Kay Donna Kliegl, 70, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. She was born September 23, 1944, in Emmetsburg, Iowa to Everett and Oleva Kliegl. She was first and foremost a mom and a grandma. She loved being with her family, especially her grandkids. She enjoyed playing pitch and poker with the family. Kay also liked playing the slots at Prairie Meadows and going to Las Vegas. Many fun road trips were taken to the casinos in all parts of Iowa. Kay loved to sing, especially with the girls in the choir at St. Peters and also with the band that played at her father’s tavern. She was a fan of auto racing and classic cars. She loved to watch her sons and their friends race and also liked NASCAR.

Kay is survived by her children, Carl Priest, Catherine Milosevic, and Sheldon (Shannon) Priest; siblings, Judy Vandermark, Thomas (Christine) Kliegl, Joyce (Al) Ballard, and Jane (Andy) Allen; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oleva and Everett and her sister, Joan Kirkpatrick.

There will be a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines followed by a reception. Burial will take place at approximately 2:30 at Berwick Cemetery the same day.
